preposition

Preposition are used to show the relationship or connection of a word with other words.

=) PREPOSITION OF POSITION
We use prepositions of position to indicate or show the location of person, a place or an object in relation to another person, place or object in a sentence.


example :
    > beside
        * Ahmad looks very small when he stands beside his older 
          brother, Ali.
     > under
        * Myra always thinks that there is a monster under the bed.
     > to
        * Lynn is taking the train to Kuala Lumpur tonight.
     > along
        * There are many souvenir shops along Petaling Street.
     > behind
        * The man standing behind Tina is very thin.


=) PREPOSITION OF TIME
We use preposition of time to indicate the concept of time or the duration of time.


example :
     > until (to show when an action or a situation ends)
     > from...to (to indicate the beginning and the ending of an 
          action or a situation)
     > by (to show hat something takes place at or before a certain 
          time or moment)
     > for (with time expressions or specific periods to show how 
          long something / an event takes place)
     > while (to show that two things are happening at the same 
           time and it can be expressed in the following way :
        
        while + subject + verb
      (usually in the continuous form)

     > since (tells us the starting time of an event or incident)
       > before (refers to an earlier time)
       > after (means at a later time)
